Quality Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our Quality Control team at our Port Elizabeth plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and comply with the company’s quality systems. This role reports to the Quality Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Prepare all necessary equipment and documentation before production starts. Inspect all components according to inspection instruction sheets. Review first-off samples before production runs and approve for continuation. Record quality issues, scrap, and rework quantities during production. Inspect last-off samples, document results, and store appropriately. Ensure all operations have last-off samples. Segregate and label all non-conforming products as rework or scrap. Review and recommend updates to inspection instruction sheets. Ensure products under deviation/concession are clearly identified. Verify that all products have customer approval prior to shipment. Conduct store audits and ensure packing conditions preserve product quality. Verify that truck canopies are adequate for product protection. Perform cross-functional tasks during periods of reduced plant capacity (training provided). Requirements Matric certificate (Std 10). Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality control. Ability to identify product defects (including skin panels). Proficient in using precision instruments (verniers, micrometers). Knowledge of SPC techniques and capability studies. Literate and numerate to at least Matric level. Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to stop production in cases of non-conformance. Ability to withhold shipment of unapproved or non-conforming product. Good communication and reporting skills.
