Structural Design Engineer

We are partnering with a leading global consulting firm that is actively seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to specialize in the design and analysis of complex transmission structures for voltages from 33kV to 400kV, ensuring compliance with both local and international standards. Requirements: · A Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering . · 3-5 years of experience in the structural design of transmission line structures, preferably within the South African and UK power sectors. · Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech Eng registration with ECSA , or you must be actively working towards registration. · Proficiency in structural analysis software like PLS-CADD, TOWER, STAAD.Pro, and SAP2000 . · A strong understanding of wind loading, conductor tensioning, foundation interaction, and local terrain considerations. · Familiarity with Eskom grid codes, TRMSCAAC1, SANS 10100 , and international standards like IEC 60826 and BS EN 50341 . · Experience working on UK transmission projects or with UK grid standards is highly desirable. · Knowledge of foundation design and geotechnical principles, especially in South African soil conditions, is also a plus. Key Responsibilities: · Structural Design & Analysis: Designing and analyzing steel lattice towers and monopoles for transmission lines. · Collaboration: Working with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, geotechnical) to deliver integrated design solutions. · Assessment & Reporting: Conducting structural assessments of existing infrastructure, preparing detailed design documentation, technical reports, and drawings. · Project Support: Providing technical input and cost estimation during tendering, and liaising with clients, contractors, and authorities to ensure project success. · SHEQ: Role modeling safe and ethical behavior and contributing to a zero-harm environment.
