Role: Financial Engineering Business Analyst Location: Sheffield – Hybrid – 2/3 Days P/Week Duration: 31/12/2025 – Potential for Extension Rate: £689.96 P/Day – Inside IR35 – UMB Why join us? (Overview of Dept./Function) Global Risk Analytics (GRA) is a part of HSBC’s Global Risk Function which provides solutions using analytics, tools, and models to identify, measure and manage key risks. GRA currently covers Wholesale Credit and Market Risk, Financial Crime Risk, Regulatory Compliance and Operational Risk. Financial Engineering drives definition and adoption of the modelling solutions within GRA and beyond on the Risk infrastructure. The projects within this team are related to regulatory, digital, policy or system level changes. The Opportunity: (Brief Overview of the Role) Financial Engineering Business Analyst (FE BA) will support the Global Risk Analytics in the delivery of strategic vision for the Financial Engineering infrastructure and related changes in response to the regulatory and business requests. FE BA will focus on the improvement of model development and implementation processes, including gathering business requirements, analysis of data, definition of solution designs with related operational changes, and carrying out testing as part of implementation support activities. The role requires strong collaboration skills and involves interaction with various business and IT stakeholders to address business needs. What you’ll do: (List out Key Responsibilities) Develop understanding of the current and target states for the Financial Engineering Infrastructure and modelling processes Play a key role in communicating across teams impacted by the FE changes (such as Modelling teams, users, IT) FE BA will support the modelling, IMR teams and FE developers in the delivery of the strategic modelling development solutions: Work with the key stakeholder teams to produce business requirements and specifications for the modelling infrastructure tooling, innovation solutions and other changes. Assess changes against Future State Architecture. More specifically, manage the demand for the model development resources such as Anaconda. Support agile delivery and take a lead in agile ceremonies. Help to prepare test plans, scripts and execute functional testing of changes. What you will need to succeed in the role: (Minimum Qualification and Skills Required) Degree in a quantitative subject and a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in banking. Strong background in business analysis within change delivery and proficiency with producing artefacts such as business requirements, worked examples, functional architecture, data specifications, test plans etc. Strong experience with Agile ways of working. Experience with Analytics or modelling, particularly in wholesale credit risk, as e.g. a modeler, change professional, or IT specialist, is highly advantageous. Experience of working in Anaconda enterprise solution. Strong proficiency in JIRA. At least intermediate proficiency in SQL, Python. Strong written and verbal communication skills including high proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and diagram-drawing tools (such Visio). Self-starter attitude with a can-do mind set, excellent problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to handle conflict and manage expectations.
