We also manage the UK's largest and most diverse collection of microbial strains which serves as a vital depository and reference collection for academics and industry across the globe. We are currently developing strains from the collection for production of enzymes, chemicals, single cell proteins, crop biocontrol agents and microbiome related products in health and agriculture. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, NCIMB Ltd aims to become a leader in microbial strain development for industrial biotechnology, addressing global challenges like net-zero emissions and sustainable chemical manufacturing. We are now seeking a talented and motivated R&D Scientist to join our growing research team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to both ongoing and new research projects in a dynamic and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities · Support the delivery of R&D projects through microbiological and molecular biology techniques. · Contribute to the development and optimisation of laboratory protocols. · Collaborate effectively within a small, multidisciplinary team. Essential Qualifications & Experience · BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences or a related discipline. · Hands-on experience with standard microbiological and molecular techniques. · Experience with microbial strain characterisation and/or microbial strain development. · Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Desirable Attributes · Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001:2015 and cGMP. · Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. · A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement. Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
