Job Description
Haulage and Resource Coordinator Bankhead Depot Salary: £39,129 - £46,023 Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks This is a new post, created to manage the resources available to the disposal team on a daily basis to help ensure efficient staffing and running of disposal sites and the haulage associated with them. The post holder will manage the waste disposal driver team across the city, ensuring that all HWRCs (and other sites using skips) across Edinburgh are serviced efficiently regarding skip movements. The postholder will be responsible for increasing and monitoring efficiency of the hooklift fleet and drivers, ensuring compliance with driving regulations, council rules and good practice. They will liaise with Fleet services, ensuring vehicles are serviced and maintained as required. The post holder will also manage the external haulage contract (the articulated vehicles servicing the WTS), ensuring efficiency of this operation and liaising with the contractor to manage this contract, ensuring contract compliance and where necessary, the application of contract penalties. The post holder will also manage the allocation of staff to all disposal sites on a daily basis, developing and managing a holiday rota to ensure sites are appropriately staffed at all times, whilst minimising use of overtime or temporary / agency staff. They will be responsible for recruitment to the disposal team and for co-ordinating and recording training across the team, ensuring all staff are qualified to do all the tasks in their role. Excellent organisational and planning skills are required for this post, as well as the ability to adapt at short notice and reprioritise work across the service as needs arise. Computer literacy and the ability to produce and interpret reports and act on data such as tracker reports, weighbridge tickets etc are essential. Postholders will be expected to hold a COTC level 4 or to gain one within 2 years of starting employment in this role. The COTC will be funded by CEC.
