Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their high-capacity meat processing facility. The successful candidate will ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all mechanical systems and equipment, including conveyors, refrigeration units, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other industry-specific machinery. This role requires a hands-on problem solver who can respond quickly to breakdowns, lead maintenance activities, and support operational efficiency while upholding strict hygiene, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment. Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules. Collaborate with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure compliance. Design and improve mechanical components to enhance efficiency and safety. Manage equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning. Keep accurate maintenance logs and technical documentation. Provide technical guidance and training to staff. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification. 35 years mechanical maintenance experience in a food processing or industrial environment (abattoir experience preferred). Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, and gearboxes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
