Assistant Shipping Manager

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for an Assistant Shipping Manager to join our client based in Bromborough CH62. This is a permanent job vacancy. As the assistant shipping manager you will be supporting the logistics manager with shipping activities across the business. We're looking for a proactive Assistant Shipping Manager to support the logistics operations, ensuring seamless international shipping, compliance, and team coordination. Salary: up to £37,000 per annum depending on experience Benefits: Healthcare Bonus Scheme Cycle to Work Scheme Company Pension Opportunity for career growth within a global business Working Hours Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm Friday 8:30am-3:00pm The Role / Responsibilities: Shipment Coordination – Manage end-to-end freight logistics (air, sea, road), liaising with carriers to ensure on-time, cost-effective deliveries. Supervise and train a packing team, optimising workflows and maintaining quality standards. Prepare shipping docs (invoices, packing lists, customs forms) and ensure adherence to international trade regulations. Work closely with suppliers, forwarders, and internal teams to resolve issues and provide shipping updates. Identify cost-saving opportunities and streamline logistics operations. Use WMS/ERP systems (Microsoft Navision preferred) to track shipments and generate performance reports. Skills / Experience: 5 years' experience in shipping/logistics, with 2 years in a managerial/supervisory role. Expertise in freight methods (FTL, groupage, parcel). Leadership skills – ability to motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and attention to detail to resolve delays and ensure order accuracy. Tech-savvy – experience with WMS/ERP systems (Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, would be advantageous). Must have in depth knowledge of customs documentation including Incoterms 2000, Customs Declarations & Brexit customs procedures Knowledge of UK HMRC rules.
