Job Description
Minimum requirements for the role: Must have a Bachelors degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field Minimum 5-7 years experience in farm management, preferably in a large-scale agricultural operation Strong knowledge of crop production, farm machinery maintenance, and agronomic practices suited to the Democratic Republic of Congo is essential Proven leadership skills with experience in managing diverse teams, including direct reportees and seasonal contractors Excellent organizational, financial, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage budgets, compliance, and operational logistics effectively The successful candidate will be responsible for: Developing and implementing strategic plans to maximize crop yield, selecting crop varieties suited to local conditions, and determining optimal planting and harvesting schedules. Overseeing the maintenance and proactive repair of farm machinery and equipment, ensuring availability of necessary spares and supplies. Managing and coordinating farm staff, including direct reportees (12) across Human Resources, Stores and Logistics, Finance, Agric Operators, Workshop, Agronomy, Dispatch, and Bush Clearing, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Monitoring crop conditions, weather patterns, and other factors to maintain and enhance the quality and quantity of crop yields. Preparing and managing budgets and financial plans based on projected crop yields, ensuring cost-effective operations. Ensuring compliance with government regulations, including taxes, labour laws, and environmental standards. Overseeing the procurement of supplies such as fertilizers, seeds, and equipment spares to support smooth farm operations. Planning and executing the hiring of seasonal contractors, collaborating with other functions to meet farm productivity timelines. Managing the agricultural fleet of vehicles to ensure availability for shift changeovers and other operational needs. Maintaining accurate records for inventory control, crop yields, and operational activities, ensuring effective reporting and compliance.
