Principal Project Manager – IT transformation Brussels, Onsite | €400–€450 per day | Initial 4-month contract ( possible extension) Start date: 1 September 2025 Active Clearance required: UK Security Check (SC) or NATO Secret Please be aware, that this role would require you to work onsite every day in Brussels. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Principal Project Manager to lead mission-critical initiatives within a dynamic international environment. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to NATO’s operations at a pivotal time, supporting transformation and innovation across vital IT programmes. Based onsite in Brussels, this 4-month engagement offers the chance to work at the heart of one of the world’s most important intergovernmental organisations. You’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering complex projects aligned with NATO’s strategic goals, engaging cross-functional teams, and ensuring outcomes that deliver real value and operational impact. What will you do? Manage, plan, and implement projects in accordance with NATO policies. Develop procurement strategies, risk analysis, and business cases to secure sponsor acceptance. Understand and translate client requirements into actionable project plans. Deliver projects within agreed time, cost, and quality tolerances. Execute quality assurance functions essential to overall project success. Manage resources effectively to meet project milestones. Supervise project teams and individual contributors (project members). What do you need to be successful? A recognised bachelor's degree and a minimum of six years' project management experience. Professional project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP). At least three years’ experience managing projects within large public or international organisations. Demonstrable knowledge of modern delivery methodologies such as Agile, Change Management, Business Process, Cloud Computing, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Transformation Initiatives. ITIL Foundation certification. Familiarity with project management tools such as ServiceNow. Understanding of national government procurement procedures. Desired, but not essential Prior experience as a project manager within NATO. Knowledge of portfolio management frameworks such as MoP or MSP.
