Farm Manager

Our client, a historic large-scale farm in Wellington , is launching a pioneering project: South Africas first large-scale, super high-density olive orchards. To ensure top-tier international standards, the farm is working with one of Italys most successful olive producers as a hands-on consultant. The sucessful incumbent is a technology-oriented Farm Manager , who will lead this innovative initiative, implementing advanced planting systems, automation, and providing assistance with global marketing strategies. In addition, the incumbent must exhibit strong technical, leadership, and project management strengths. The successful candidate will be responsible for : * Farm Management & Leadership : *Lead all orchard operations: planting, pruning, irrigation, thinning, and mechanical harvesting *Build and manage a high-performing team *Implement systems that integrate organic certification with modern mechanization * Production, Sustainability & Technology Integration: *Manage high-yield, sustainable olive and organic crop production *Supervise processing for optimal quality and oil extraction *Apply best-in-class harvesting and post-harvest practices *Drive regenerative methods: soil health, organic pest control, nutrient efficiency *Oversee adoption of precision farming technologies * Marketing & Exports: *Assist in the development and management of international marketing strategies *Ensure product quality and positioning for export markets *Build relationships with global buyers and partners *All other tasks related to this role. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: A degree in Agriculture or related field; Minimum of 35 years experience in large-scale, mechanized farming (e.g. blueberries, hothouse vegetables); Olive experience is not required; Willingness to travel internationally for hands-on training; Skilled in computerised irrigation and automated harvesting; Must be familiar with international agricultural export markets and related logistics.
