GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHER

THE POSITION

Teachers will act as Soleil Academy’s most critical lever in ensuring student achievement and forging a successful academic program.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Teacher’s essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide Quality Instruction to all Scholars

  • Develop and maintain a positive, achievement-oriented, supportive and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn. 

  • Incorporate internalization for unit and lesson deliverables for all adapted curriculum to ensure instructional clarity and scholar success.

  • Create, analyze, and utilize exit tickets, quizzes, unit tests, interim exams, and other assessment data to determine instructional adjustments and differentiated re-teaching needed to advance all scholars toward mastery.

  • Dive into data from assessments to create and adjust small-group instruction and intervention groups, ensuring targeted support for all learners.

  • Implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to provide multiple means of engagement, representation, and action/expression, ensuring all students have equitable access to learning.

  • Deliver socio-emotional learning curriculum as scheduled

  • Identify students who are academically at risk and implement effective intervention strategies, leveraging RTI (Response to Intervention) when necessary.

  • Provide supervision for arrival and dismissal as assigned in order to maintain student safety

  • Be open to feedback and continuous improvement through coaching, professional development, and reflective practice.

  • Participate in monthly observations conducted by school leaders and coaches to enhance instructional effectiveness.

  • Welcome and incorporate feedback from school leaders, peer coaches, and content support managers to continuously improve instructional practices.

Contribute to the School Community 

  • Seek opportunities, both individually and through school-based initiatives, to build strong and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, families and scholars. 

  • Actively engage in School and externally provided professional development. 

  • Prepare for and attend up to five (5) evening scholar, parent or other school events that do not exceed more than three (3) hours per event, including Report Card Nights, Open House, Scholar Exhibitions, etc. 

  • Serve actively on at least one (1) School- established action committee during the school year.

  • Attend all faculty and professional development meetings.

  • Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with parents. 

Uphold Soleil Educational Philosophy and Standards of Excellence

  •  Support Soleil’s aspiration to prepare all scholars to have the foundation necessary for college success.

  • Follow School grading policies

  • Maintain accurate, current records for attendance, coursework, and submit timely completed report cards and school-wide assessment records. 

  • Provide a cohered plan for classroom discipline aligned to the school-wide behavior management policy and keep documentation of all interventions taken to manage scholar behavior. 

  • Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Soleil Employee Handbook.

  • Ensure timely and high-quality submission of school requirements such as intellectual preparation, unit plans, and re-teaching plans. 

  • Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset while striving to exemplify Soleil’s commitment to the school community. 

  • Other duties as assigned by school administrators


THE QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Strong commitment to Soleil Academy’s mission and vision

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Valid intern, preliminary, or clear California multiple-subject credential 

  • English Learner Authorization

  • Experience analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

  • Openness to feedback and desire to continue development as a professional

  • Willingness to take responsibility for scholar outcomes and achievement

  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills

  • DOJ/FBI Clearance

  • TB Clearance

Highly preferred:

  • Spanish speakers

  • COVID-19 vaccination (Up to date)

  • Minimum of one year working in urban education with a history of significant gains in scholar performance and/or growth


Compensation and Benefits

  • CompensationSoleil provides competitive salaries, which are reviewed every three years. Based on relevant prior work experience, our hourly range for this role is $63,000-100,202Please click HERE for more information on our salary schedule.

  • Retirement: School staff, depending on role, may participate in the school-provided 403b retirement plan. All school staff are eligible to contribute to a 403(b) retirement plan, with Soleil providing a 5% matching contribution.

Disclaimer: This position is for the 2025-26 academic year, with an expected start date in mid-July 2025 to participate in mandatory summer orientation and preparation activities. The official school year commences on August 6, 2025. Candidates should be prepared to commit to the full academic year, ensuring continuity and stability for our students.
