Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive HSE systems, policies, and procedures during mine development and operational phases. Ensure compliance with all relevant mining safety legislation and environmental regulations. Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits across the site. Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through training, awareness, and behavioural safety programs. Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely reporting and permit compliance. Mentor and lead a safety team, fostering a culture of accountability and zero harm. Implement and drive 5 year HSE Strategy and Safety Improvement Plan Compile and submit monthly, quarterly and annual management reports Quarterly HSE, SIP and legal audits CANDIDATE PROFILE (MIN REQUIRTEMENTS) Degree or diploma in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, or a related field. COMSOC 1 & 2 Ncert: Opencast Rockbreaking Certificate / Opencast Blasting Ticket Minimum 810 years of HSE experience in the mining sector, with at least 3 years in a senior safety leadership role. In-depth knowledge of open cast mining operations and chrome processing is advantageous. Strong understanding of HSE legislation, risk management frameworks, and incident investigation protocols. Professional certifications (e.g., COMSOC, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, ISO 45001) preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Preference will be given to candidates who meet the minimum criteria and resides within our host area of Ga Mphahlele Communities (proof of residence may be requested): Lebowakgomo, Mamaolo, Makurung, Dithabaneng, Malekapane, Thamagane, Morotse, Turfpan, Mongobong
