Section Engineer

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Section Engineer for a section of the HS2 project in Warwickshire. This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role on one of the UK's most high-profile infrastructure projects. Role Overview: As a Section Engineer, you’ll be responsible for coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors, supporting commercial teams, and leading a team of site engineers to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-driven delivery of works. Key Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day site operations across designated work areas Manage subcontractor performance and progress on site Liaise with the commercial team on cost control, variations, and subcontractor packages Lead and mentor site engineers, ensuring accurate setting out and QA Review and manage ITPs, RAMS, permits, and other technical documentation Ensure all works are delivered to programme, quality, and HSE standards Attend progress meetings and report on works status and issues Requirements: Civil Engineering degree or equivalent Proven experience as a Section Engineer on large civils/infrastructure projects Strong subcontractor management and coordination skills Experience liaising with commercial and planning teams CSCS card essential; SMSTS or SSSTS preferred Excellent communication and team leadership capabilities
