Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor – Large-Scale Solar Farm Location: Stevenage, UK (on-site) Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 Overtime Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: ASAP Relocation: Required upon project completion Company Overview We are partnered with a leading renewable energy company delivering large-scale solar PV projects throughout the UK. With a robust pipeline and a strong reputation for quality and performance, they are now seeking a skilled Mechanical Supervisor to support the construction of a major solar farm in Stevenage. Role Overview As the Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising all mechanical works on-site, including the installation of mounting structures, trackers, and module placement. You will lead teams of labourers and subcontractors, ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high standards of quality. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working extended hours during key delivery phases and open to relocating for future projects once this site is complete. Key Responsibilities * Supervise and manage the mechanical installation teams on-site * Ensure all mechanical activities are completed to specification and on schedule * Conduct quality checks and inspections of installed structures and components * Oversee the installation of solar mounting systems, modules, and trackers * Monitor daily progress and report to the Site Manager * Enforce health and safety procedures, conduct toolbox talks * Maintain accurate site records, including progress and incident reports * Coordinate with electrical teams, subcontractors, and logistics staff Requirements * Experience supervising mechanical installations on utility-scale energy or infrastructure projects * Strong understanding of solar PV mechanical systems (mounting structures, modules, trackers) * SSSTS or SMSTS certification (preferred) * Mechanical qualifications or relevant industry experience * Excellent leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills * Full UK driving licence * Flexibility to work overtime and relocate after project completion Benefits * Competitive salary: £35,000 – £45,000 * Paid overtime * Career growth within a rapidly expanding renewables contractor * Travel and accommodation support for future relocations * Supportive team culture and high-impact work
