Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH) Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire School Type: Specialist SEMH Secondary School (Ages 11–16) Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only Start Date: ASAP Salary: £105–£120 per day (dependent on experience) Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? A dedicated SEMH secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team full-time from September. The school provides a therapeutic and structured environment for students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, trauma, ADHD, and autism. The Role: * Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis to support their learning and emotional regulation * Assist in delivering tailored interventions and behavioural support strategies * Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour * Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals * Support students both in and outside the classroom, promoting positive routines and engagement Ideal Candidate: * Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs (school, residential, or youth work) * Calm, confident, and adaptable approach with excellent behaviour management skills * Emotionally resilient and motivated by helping others overcome barriers to learning * Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent – desirable * Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one We Offer: * A supportive and inclusive team passionate about student welfare * On-the-job training and CPD in areas like de-escalation and trauma-informed practice * Opportunities for permanent employment * A rewarding and impactful role where no two days are the same Ready to make a difference?
