Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant | £30,000 - £40,000 | Dorchester Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this hands-on role will play a key part in the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Responsibilities include managing sales and purchase ledgers, conducting account reconciliations, supporting payroll processing, and assisting with both statutory and project-based financial reporting. The Role: * Processing and recording new customer purchase orders in accordance with company procedures * Matching supplier invoices to purchase orders and accurately posting them to Sage * Posting daily bank transactions to maintain up-to-date financial records * Assisting with monthly postponed VAT reporting and related processes * Preparing weekly payment run reports for review and approval * Compiling monthly payroll adjustment worksheets, including overtime, leave, and other variations Key Skills and Experience: * AAT Level 4 qualification (or be qualified by experience to an equivalent level) * 3–5 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role * Strong proficiency in Sage 50 and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel * Solid understanding of core financial systems, ledger management, and reconciliation processes This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and growing business.
