SAIPA Trainee Clerk – Audit Focus

ABOUT THE ROLE We are a SAIPA-accredited training firm looking for a SAIPA Trainee Clerk with a strong interest in auditing and assurance work. This position is suited for a motivated individual who is currently studying BCom Accounting part-time and wishes to pursue a career in audit, assurance, and accounting while completing their SAIPA articles. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with planning and execution of audits for SME clients Compile and complete audit working papers under supervision Perform substantive testing of financial statement line items Verify documentation, conduct analytical procedures, and confirm balances Assist with preparation of independent reviews and audit reports Liaise directly with clients to obtain records and resolve audit queries Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs and SAIPA ethical guidelines Support preparation of management accounts and tax returns when needed Maintain proper audit documentation and file structure Learn and apply audit procedures using firm audit software MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Studying BCom Accounting part-time High interest in audit and assurance work Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured audit processes Good communication and interpersonal skills Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email Ability to work both independently and in a team Professional attitude and willingness to learn PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) Exposure to CaseWare, DraftWorx, Pastel, or Sage Previous internship or experience in an accounting or auditing environment Familiarity with SARS eFiling and basic tax concepts WHAT WE OFFER Official SAIPA learnership and mentorship Practical audit and assurance exposure across various industries Training in accounting and audit software Study support, time off for exams, and long-term career opportunities
