Qualifications * Academic doctorate *or* highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in Visual Impairments, Special Education, or a related field. * Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. * Minimum of three years of experience working in a formal role that serves individuals with visual impairments (e.g., teacher of students with visual impairments, orientation and mobility specialist, vision rehabilitation therapist, administrator of a school for the blind). Preferred Qualifications * Certification as a teacher of students with visual impairments. * Experience teaching K-12 children with visual impairments. * Experience with individuals with complex needs and visual impairments. * Successful teaching experience at the college or university level. * Experience coordinating certification programs (including state-level reporting). * Experience mentoring pre-service and in-service teachers. * Successful grant management and writing. * Experience managing projects and personnel. * Dual certification in multiple roles in the field of visual impairments or special education. This visiting line is intended to provide talented and aspiring candidates with experience and mentorship that will set them up to apply for the role of Program Leader of the Blind and Low Vision Education Program. We seek a colleague who will support the Blind and Low Vision Education Program’s commitment to preparing high-quality teachers of students with visual impairments. The successful candidate will primarily teach students enrolled in the BS/MS Blind and Low Vision pathway and the master’s degree programs and assist in mentoring and supervising students.
