Responsibilities Typical duties include but are not limited to: * Teaching undergraduate courses in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and General Chemistry. * Mentoring and working closely with undergraduate students. * Working closely with colleagues in Panama City to promote the chemistry program and STEM initiatives as they relate to local academic programs and recruitment. * Working with colleagues in the Chemistry Department in Tallahassee to assist course coordination. * Participate in service to the program and campus such as committee work, community outreach, and laboratory coordination. * This position has opportunities for engagement in additional research, though it is not a required component of this teaching faculty position. Qualifications Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry (or related field) from an accredited institution. Graduate students expecting to have their degree conferred prior to the start date of the position will be considered. Applicants must also have demonstrated experience teaching Organic Chemistry at the college or university level. Preferred Qualifications We are especially seeking candidates who have a minimum of two years of experience teaching at the university level, either in-person or online. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can teach Organic Chemistry I & II, Organic Chemistry Lab, & Biochemistry I. An ability to teach General Chemistry I & II as well as General Chemistry I & II Labs will also be an important consideration. Preferred candidates should have strong lab management skills and the ability to work with other STEM instructors towards student success initiatives. We also prefer candidates with a demonstrable and quantifiable record of instructional excellence and a focus on strong pedagogy. Helpful The Division of Undergraduate Studies at Florida State University and FSU Panama City invite applications for a full-time, specialized (non-tenure-track) Teaching Faculty position in Organic Chemistry, available as either a 9- or 12-month appointment. This position offers opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. The appointment will begin in Fall 2026 with consideration for Spring 2026 if it aligns well with the candidate’s availability. The chemistry program at FSU Panama City supports students as they develop sound academic skills for their major fields of study and encourages all undergraduate students to achieve their full potential. The Chemistry area at FSU Panama City offers a core complement in Chemistry courses, including General Chemistry I with Lab, General Chemistry II with Lab, Organic Chemistry I, Organic Chemistry II with Lab, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry I with Lab, and Analytical Chemistry II with Lab. These courses support a variety of academic programs, including Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Pre-health, and general education requirements. The program is seeking to expand as the campus adds new programs and increases enrollment through initiatives such as dual enrollment.
