An opportunity to join a private-equity backed children’s nursery business for a 3-month paid internship . The Position This is a temporary office-based position located in the City of London at the offices of Downing LLP, a leading UK investment firm. The contract will be for 3 months, though there might be the opportunity to extend this subject to business opportunities arising. About the Role We are looking for a graduate or current university student to support the growth of Chalk Nurseries, a Downing private equity investment. The person will assist with M&A through researching and assessing acquisition targets. The role involves identifying children’s nurseries for acquisition, gathering key information about a target, assessing suitability including financial information and strategic fit, and supporting the team to prepare offers/investment proposals. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking for experience working in private equity, and enjoys research, working with data and wants hand-on experience in business analysis. Key Responsibilities Research childcare nurseries that meet acquisition criteria Gather information on location, pricing, reputation, and ownership details Analyse financial, operational, and market-related factors Compile reports and present findings to the team Assist with due diligence checks to confirm suitability Contact business owners/employees to obtain additional information Requirements A graduate or current student with a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently Why Join Us?
