Job Description
Service Designer / User Researcher Location: London (2 days onsite) Duration: 6–12 month contract Rate: £500/day (Inside IR35) Clearance: Active SC clearance required An opportunity to work on a high-impact public sector programme, contributing to the design and delivery of user-centred services in line with GDS standards. We’re looking for a professional who can operate across both Service Design and User Research , bringing insight, clarity, and user-focused thinking to complex service challenges. Key Responsibilities: Lead service design and user research activities through discovery, alpha and beta phases Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end service improvements Conduct and synthesise research to inform service strategies Map current and future service journeys with a focus on accessibility and inclusion Present findings and design proposals to stakeholders at all levels Ensure alignment with GDS principles and best practices Essential Experience: Strong background in public sector projects Proven track record working within GDS-aligned teams Ability to bridge the gap between user needs and service delivery Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration Active SC Clearance (mandatory) If you are a designer or researcher passionate about improving public services and experienced in delivering impactful work within government frameworks, this is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to critical national outcomes.
