General Manager

We're Hiring: General Manager – Romiley Board Mill (Cheshire, UK) Due to impending retirement , we're seeking a hands-on problem solver with fresh and innovative ideas to join our leadership team. About the Role Full responsibility for the day-to-day running of all site operations: production, people, health & safety, compliance . Strategic focus on enhancing service levels, product quality, and operational efficiency . The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering and/or papermaking background , paired with commercial experience —ready to lead production modernization and customer-focused growth. Key Responsibilities Oversee production, maintenance, engineering , ensuring smooth operational performance. Lead a diverse team—drive H&S compliance , staff development, and team engagement. Monitor and improve quality, safety, and operational KPIs . Ensure full regulatory and environmental compliance . Develop and champion innovative, data-driven solutions to boost service and value. ✔️ What We’re Looking For Proven engineering roots , ideally within papermaking or process manufacturing. Commercial experience, including P&L oversight or strategic business planning. Practical strategic mindset: comfortable diving into technical challenges yet fluent in leadership and business development. Track record in operational excellence, continuous improvement , and team-building. Ability to translate hands-on expertise into innovative initiatives and scalable process improvements.
