MANAGEMENT REPORTING ACCOUNTANT Our Client, a Major Oil and Gas Operator in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Management Reporting Accountant. This is a long-term PAYE contract role initially until 31 December 2026. The role: The Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial reporting, analysis, and planning processes for the UK business. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, commercial awareness, and the ability to clearly communicate financial insights to senior stakeholders across the organisation. You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely performance reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external reporting requirements. A continuous improvement mindset is essential, with a focus on enhancing the quality, efficiency, and relevance of our reporting processes. The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation-including HQ, senior leadership, and teams across finance and the wider business-to ensure aligned objectives and effective information flow. Key Responsibility: Monthly Performance Reporting for Cost Stewardship Meetings Prepare, analyse, and distribute detailed monthly performance reports for cost stewardship meetings. Responsibilities include consolidating financial and operational data, conducting variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, and delivering clear commentary on business performance and key drivers. Provide sensitivity analysis on key business areas to support decision-making and identify opportunities for performance improvement. Bi-Monthly Presentations to Client International Leadership Team Lead the preparation of bi-monthly performance presentations for HQ senior leadership, ensuring that the UK business's financial results, operational highlights, and key trends are clearly communicated. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain up-to-date information, and tailor messaging for a senior, international audience. Month-End Deliverables Prepare a comprehensive income statement analysis for submission to HQ. This includes providing clear explanations for significant variances and emerging trends. Additional month-end responsibilities include delivering vendor analysis, risk and opportunity assessments, and the monthly management report to support informed decision-making for UK leadership team. Benchmarking and Industry Analysis Conduct detailed benchmarking studies to compare company and divisional performance against industry peers. Identify performance gaps and opportunities for improvement and support strategic decision-making with fact-based insights drawn from competitor and market data. Stakeholder Engagement and Business Partnering Maintain regular, proactive engagement with internal stakeholders across finance and operations. Use these relationships to anticipate reporting needs and ensure that finance is closely connected with day-to-day business activities. Teamwork & Collaboration Provide cover for team members during leave periods and help balance workloads to maintain team effectiveness. Support cross-training and encourage shared learning across the team. Ensure full compliance with all applicable SOX and internal control requirements. Participate in ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and company. You are: Able to work under time and resource pressure and with competing work priorities, delivering work to appropriate standards over both short and long timeframe. Good interpersonal skills, personal drive, self-starting initiative and influencing skills Excellent communication skills and experience engaging with individuals at all levels in the organisation. Experience of collaborating across teams and functions, and the ability to understand and interact effectively with diverse groups to achieve deliverables. Have strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability Extensive accounting and reporting experience Have excellent planning and organisational skills. Have strong skills and experience in the use of reporting tools such as BI and or Power BI Are highly efficient in Excel, PowerPoint & Word. Ability to demonstrate strong accountability with a drive for continuous improvement Ability to demonstrate the use of technology to improve process controls and efficiency At a minimum, you have: *Bachelor's degree *Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar) *Relevant Oil and Gas industry experience
