Position: In-House Solicitor – Criminal Prosecutions Location: Cambridgeshire / Hybrid (2–3 days in office based) Salary Guide: £55,000 – £65,000 per annum bonus excellent benefits Role Type: Full-time, Permanent We are working with a leading organisation on a unique In-House opportunity for a Solicitor with a specialism in criminal regulatory/prosecutions. This is to join a high performing and collaborative in-house legal team. In this newly created role, you’ll play a pivotal part in bringing prosecutions against offenders breaching infrastructure related legislation, while also advising on and supporting the defence of sustainability related enforcement actions. This is a varied and impactful position with genuine scope to influence outcomes across a regulated, purpose-driven business. Key responsibilities: Lead on criminal prosecutions relating to misuse of infrastructure, from case assessment to support of courtroom advocacy. Assist in responding to and defending against regulatory enforcement proceedings. Evaluate and manage evidential material and legal risk with clear commercial judgement. Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and regulators to ensure legally robust outcomes. Play a key role in reducing environmental impact and supporting the business’s sustainability mission. Candidate profile: UK Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. Strong background in criminal prosecution with solid experience managing the end-to-end prosecution process, including evidence assessment, case preparation, charging decisions, and conducting or instructing advocacy in criminal proceedings. Advocacy experience highly desirable. Self-sufficient with a commercially mindset. Excellent communication and legal analysis skills. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
