Transport Planner

Daley Recruitment are seeking a Transport Planner for a Builder merchants based in new Southgate for an permanent position. Your role as a transport planner will be to assist with daily planning of the fleet within the transport department, focusing on route planning and delivering an excellent service to customers with a fleet of up to 20 vehicles. Transport Planner salary will be between £35 - £40k depending on experience Role: - Monday to Friday (Could be required for to work one in two or three Saturdays per month) - Start time will be between 06:30 - 07:00 start - 42.5 hours per week Responsibilities: - Being main point of contact for drivers through phone and text messages throughout the day - Communicating between different departments in the depot such as Dispatch , sales and Compliance team - Route planning whereby you will be using a route software and also real time changes when required - Managing the order pickers team to make sure goods are prepared and ready to be delivered by the fleet vehicles - Working along side the stock team to ensure products are ready to go for delivery and communicating this to the customers for when what timing it will arrive. - Organizing collections from the other depots when needed to - Managing of fleet compliance to ensure all vehicles are complying Requirements: - At least 3 years of driver dispatch /Controlling / Transport planning experience - Background in freight /Courier industry - Experience of working within builder merchant would be beneficial - Understanding of transport regulations and compliance is a must - Strong IT skills - Good geographical knowledge of London and home counties - Strong interpersonal, written, verbal , organization and planning skills
