Job Title: Estimator Location: Ashford, Kent Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 plus car allowance/company car, private healthcare, 25 days holiday COMPANY DESCRIPTION Our client is a leading construction company operating throughout the South East of England, with regional offices in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey. They specialise in delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, healthcare, and education. Projects typically range from £5m to £30m. JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is seeking an Estimator / Senior Estimator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing priced tenders that are accurate, clearly detailed, competitive, and returned within deadlines. Key duties will include: * Maintaining good relationships with prospective clients and professionals to promote further tender invitations * Providing a detailed “take-off” and Bill of Quantities (BQ) * Arranging site inspections * Providing accurate budgets/cost plans * Working on traditional Plan and Specification, Design and Build of Partnered Contracts * Checking and amending rate/price build-ups where necessary * Preparing tender build-ups for internal adjudication and carrying out adjustments where necessary * Obtaining competitive prices for materials and sub-contract packages * Overseeing or completing quote analysis comparisons * Preparation and collation of relevant information/documentation for handover meeting * Discussing the clients' requirements for a pre-tender meeting with relevant departments, presenting and answering all questions regarding cost of works * Participating in post-tender meetings with clients REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience: * Proven experience as a Senior Estimator for a main contractor * Experience using various Estimating software packages and word/excel for record keeping and report writing * Experience in estimating projects ranging in value from £5m - £20m across Housing, Education, Healthcare and Commercial sectors * Knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including taking off), and H&S * Knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities * Good negotiation and communication skills * Highly numerate with a well-developed ability to accurately manipulate numerical information * Evidence of maintaining a professional, consistent and fair approach WHAT TO EXPECT Our client offers a highly competitive remuneration package, including: * A basic salary of circa £60,000 - £70,000 negotiable dependant on experience * A company car or car allowance * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays * A workplace pension scheme bonus * Discretionary company bonus * Private healthcare * Travel expenses
