Overview Taylor Root are delighted to be working with a global digital agency that helps brands with tech and marketing solutions. 4 PQE. A level of seniority and gravitas is required as whilst there is a wider international legal team the successful candidate will be the sole UK&I Lawyer, setting up the function, managing processes, and working closely with key stakeholders. The candidate can work on a hybrid basis from either the London or Manchester office. Job Purpose As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be instrumental in advising the business, managing and negotiating a diverse array of commercial contracts across the marketing and technology functions. Working alongside teams in the UK, US, and Europe, you will ensure adherence to UK&I regulations while reducing risks and advancing the organisation’s commercial goals. You will become part of the Legal Team, a collaborative group of dedicated professionals. The Role Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including client service contracts (e.g., master service agreements, statements of work, service level agreements), vendor contracts, and licensing agreements (covering IP, AI, and software). Offer expert guidance on UK contract law and commercial best practices, emphasising risk management and regulatory compliance. Contribute to the creation and upkeep of contract templates, policies, and legal processes. Collaborate with business and operational teams to address legal risks while supporting commercial objectives. Keep abreast of updates in UK&I legislation and sector-specific regulations, including data protection (UK GDPR) and technology-related legal trends. The Candidate Qualified solicitor in England and Wales. In-depth understanding of UK contract law, with familiarity with European legal frameworks being a strong advantage. At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal role, preferably within (digital) marketing, advertising, or technology industries. Proven experience as a commercial contracts counsel in a service-oriented environment. Practical, business-focused approach to resolving legal challenges. Outstanding analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail. Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
