Key responsibilities of the Principal Optical Scientist job: Lead the design and development of advanced optical systems (e.g., spectrophotometers, imaging systems, laser-based instruments), using tools like Zemax for modelling and optimisation. Define and validate system-level optical specifications, ensuring alignment with product requirements and performance targets. Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams (mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering) across global sites to ensure seamless integration of optical systems. Investigate and resolve optical-related manufacturing or field failures, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
