Assistant Planner

About the Role Seeking a driven Assistant Planner to join their growing pre-construction team. This role is ideal for someone with a planning background and a solid understanding of construction sequencing—ideally with exposure to groundworks or external works. You will support the planning function across tender and live projects, working closely with operational and pre-construction teams. This is a great opportunity to join a well-respected contractor known for delivering high-profile public realm and hard landscaping schemes across London. Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of tender programmes using Asta PowerProject or Primavera P6 Monitor on-site progress and contribute to programme reporting Interpret drawings and take off quantities using Bluebeam Apply labour and resources to programmes to help build Labour Histograms (preferred) Produce phasing diagrams and time slices in PowerPoint Analyse tender documentation and extract key planning information Support the development of programmes from first principles using output rates Collaborate with the site and project teams to maintain accurate programme tracking Attend site visits as required Requirements Must have experience using Asta PowerProject or Primavera P6 Ability to understand construction programmes and output-based planning Good attention to detail and strong analytical skills Ability to read construction drawings and extract meaningful planning data Clear, fluent English communication skills (verbal and written) Some on-site experience is highly preferred Open to candidates from various construction backgrounds—what matters most is planning experience Who You’ll Be Working With You’ll be reporting directly to the Pre-Construction Director and working as part of a collaborative and respected planning team.
