What is it? This position is responsible for designing and developing electro-mechanical systems and components which comply with internal, customer, and regulatory specifications and requirements. This position is required to conduct business in a professional and cordial manner that will uphold the integrity and reputation of Alps Alpine North America, Inc. This position maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to the policies, regulations, and procedures. Essential Functions: Responsible for creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., NX, CATIA, SolidWorks) and the principles of GD&T. Responsible for analyzing 3D models and engineering drawings from other sources for engineering feasibility. Responsible for collaborating with electrical engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical and electrical systems seamlessly. Responsible for creating and maintaining detailed documentation, including design specifications, DFMEA’s, open issues lists, test plans, and technical reports. Responsible for evaluating and troubleshooting prototype and final product performance to ensure functionality and reliability. This includes root cause analysis and countermeasure investigation. Responsible for creating clear and detailed presentation materials to communicate complex engineering concepts to cross-functional team members. Other Duties: Responsible for conducting detailed static and dynamic structural analysis and simulations to validate design concepts and optimize performance. Perform analysis of part dimensional reports and generate clear reports. Conduct part tolerance stack-ups of complex electro-mechanical assemblies. Conduct thermal analysis of electro-mechanical systems and generate clear reports. Analyze part designs for feasibility for a variety of manufacturing methods, including but not limited to: injection molding, compression molding, die-casting, stamping, vibration welding, and ultrasonic welding Create high-quality 3D sheet surfaces using CAD software. Support other mechanical team members with advice as a subject matter expert. Perform other related duties as required. Engineering Skills: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or approved equivalent 3 years of experience in mechanical design Basic arithmetic Advanced level knowledge/skill related to the use of GD&T principles Intermediate level skill in the design of parts for manufacturing Intermediate level skill creating and working with 3D sheet surfaces Intermediate level knowledge/skill in the creation and review of DFMEA documents Intermediate level knowledge/skill related to part dimensional analysis and reporting. Computer Skills : Database software Internet / Email Live chat / video conferencing (Microsoft Teams) Advanced level skills using Presentation Software Advanced level skills using Spreadsheet Software Intermediate level skills using Word Processing Software Advanced level knowledge of CAD Software (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, etc.) Familiarity with static/dynamic structural CAE Software (ANSYS) BENEFITIAL
