Job Description Job Description Description: Southern Foodservice Management , a national contract food service company, is looking to hire an Assistant Banquet Captain for our banquet dining unit located at The Harbert Center in Birmingham, AL 35203 . The pay rate is $16.50 per hour. Duties and Responsibilities Summary: The Assistant Banquet Captain supports the Banquet Captain and Banquet Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of banquet events to ensure exceptional guest experiences. This position involves supervising banquet staff, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and ensuring service standards are upheld throughout each function. Responsibilities Include: Assist in leading banquet team members during setup, service, and breakdown of events. Ensure all event details (layout, menu, timing, etc.) are followed according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders to ensure smooth service. Help train and direct servers on proper banquet procedures and service etiquette. Monitor guest satisfaction and promptly address any concerns or special requests. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in all banquet areas. Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly set and maintained before, during, and after events. Support inventory control of banquet supplies and report any shortages or maintenance issues. Act as the point person in the absence of the Banquet Captain. Deliver attentive and professional guest service, including food and beverage delivery, refills, and accommodating special requests. Assist with event setup, breakdown, restocking, and inventory control. Support health, safety, and sanitation standards, and communicate feedback or issues to management. Additional Responsibilities: Follow all Company policies and procedures as issued. Exhibit the customer service guidelines that are part of training and posted in prep areas. Work well with fellow team members. All staff members are also responsible for other duties or tasks that are assigned by the Assistant Managers or Supervisors, as a part of any “Job” or “Position” assigned during a normal work schedule. Team members may be assigned to support the meal production, service and cleaning after the meal or the dining facility.
