Job Description Job Description The primary role of an Elder Law Paralegal involves the preparation of documents that outline clients' assets, income sources, and various legal documents essential for Estate Planning and establishing Medicaid eligibility. This role encompasses the responsibility of processing Medicaid applications and providing comprehensive support to attorneys. This includes daily calendar management, client interactions, and preparation for meetings, ensuring efficient and timely completion of legal tasks in collaboration with attorneys. Client Interaction: This role entails direct communication with clients through mail, email, and phone to arrange meetings, discuss and amend draft documents, and address general queries. Additionally, the paralegal may liaise with the Department of Children and Families, CPAs, financial advisors, and insurance companies as needed. Problem Resolution: The paralegal is expected to identify and resolve issues promptly, displaying proactive problem-solving skills. Process Enhancement: Suggestions for process improvements are encouraged to enhance service quality, efficiency, and responsiveness towards clients. Document Drafting: Responsibilities include drafting and revising legal documents, ensuring drafts are completed within 72 hours of assignment, and preparing final documents for execution. Real Estate and Land Records: The role requires verification of property ownership, obtaining property descriptions from public records, recording deeds, and confirming insurance coverage as necessary. Client Execution Meetings: The paralegal will conduct initial meetings with clients to review final documents, address queries, and ensure clients initial documents as required, escalating complex questions to attorneys as needed. Tickler System Management: Regular updates and management of the firm's tickler system to track and document work progress and pending tasks. Additional Responsibilities: Includes scanning, conforming documents, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills: An Associate's Degree or Certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved program. A minimum of two years' experience in an administrative or secretarial role. Exceptional client service and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in proofreading, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Experience with Florida Access for Medicaid applications and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to anticipate client needs to prevent unpreparedness. The position is full-time, with a salary range of $55,000 to $75,000 annually, including paid time off. The work schedule is an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, and the location is in-person.
