Job Description
Job Title: Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiology Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Other Hours per Shift: Fri-Sun 0900-2130, M 7a-730p, T 7a-530p, W/Th 7a-430p Experience: 1 years of experience in acute care License: Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT) Certifications: BLS American Heart Association Must-Have: - ARRT-R Required: Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT) - Licensed Radiology Technologist - BLS Description: Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department. Perform high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to their needs. Follow standards of safe radiation practice. Demonstrate leadership abilities and serve as a role model for other technologists. Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel. Ensure current standards of practice are maintained. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures while providing safety for yourself and patients. Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing exposure to "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA). Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Prepare patients for exams. Provide information and instruction to patients and families regarding procedures and respond to their physical and emotional needs. Assist and position patients during exams. Observe patients and equipment during procedures and report/document unusual occurrences. Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment and resources. Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff to facilitate continuity of care. Assist with patient transport as needed. Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required. As assigned, perform technologist duties for other registered modalities. Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as per department policies. Input charges and required data accurately for procedures and utilized supplies. Complete all necessary hospital and imaging paperwork for each exam performed. Prepare rooms, equipment, and exam materials needed for procedures. Maintain the technical operation of equipment and notify service personnel when necessary. Inform supervisors of equipment problems and log service calls appropriately. Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients. Keep up with quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation as per department procedures. Proactively identify problems and follow up with appropriate management personnel. Establish a motivating and constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and other departments. Maintain high skill levels through ongoing education and share information with staff. Assist in the clinical and didactic education of student radiographers and other healthcare professionals. Show an interest in teaching students and provide feedback on their radiographs. Participate in clinical training and support students, staff technologists, and other personnel. Provide guidance for developing clinical skills and explain equipment and procedures. Engage in professional activities through participation in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward the profession. Actively participate in quality and process improvement initiatives within the department.
