Job Description Job Description Cinematography Instructor – Nashville Film Institute (Nashville, TN) Location: On-site | Nashville, TN Type: Part-Time or Full-Time | Contract-based Start Date: TBD (Rolling Applications) The Nashville Film Institute (NFI) is seeking a passionate, experienced Cinematography Instructor to join our team of industry professionals dedicated to training the next generation of filmmakers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced academic environment and believes in empowering students through real-world knowledge and mentorship. Responsibilities: Teach hands-on cinematography classes covering camera operation, lighting techniques, visual storytelling, and on-set workflow Provide professional insight into industry-standard tools and practices Support students through both in-class instruction and out-of-class mentoring Assist with curriculum development and refinement in coordination with program leadership Encourage discipline, creativity, and a strong work ethic in students Qualifications: Degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field 5 years of professional, on-set cinematography experience Demo reel or professional credits required (please include links with your application) Must be local to the Nashville area or willing to commute Teaching experience is preferred but not required Strong communication, time management, and classroom leadership skills Ability to give constructive feedback while maintaining a supportive learning environment Familiarity with Canvas LMS is a plus Ideal Candidate Traits: Disciplined yet encouraging : able to set high expectations while offering support Organized and innovative : capable of managing coursework and incorporating new techniques Knowledgeable but kind : sharing expertise with empathy and patience To Apply: Please send your résumé, a brief cover letter, and a link to your reel or relevant work to: oad.program.coordinator@nfi.edu Company Description Why Work at Nashville Film Institute?
