Job Description

Minimum requirements for the role: Tertiary qualification in a science or horticultural or related qualification if preferred. Previous experience in supply chain planning with strong analytical / computational work and thinking level. Previous experience in the agricultural sector, biological system and a degree/diploma in biological sciences will be an advantage plants will be shipped - shipped to the growers. Must have experience with automated data processing. Previous experience having worked within a supervisory or management role within the ornamental plant cultivation / agricultural laboratory or related environment is preferred. Knowledge and previous experience having worked within the field of tissue culture propagation is preferred. The successful candidate must have good communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Handling all supply chain planning for horticulture / ornamental plant cultivation from South Africa to the Netherlands. Working closely with the demand planner regarding stock requirements in the Netherlands, ensuring that the stock levels are in line with the demand. Handling all traceability and risk planning as well as reporting on stock availability. Reporting on any shortages and surplus of stock during the production season. Forecasting demand based on historical sales data, market trends, and promotional activities for ornamental plants and horticultural products. Creating and maintaining mid-to long-term supply plans that align with production capabilities and customer requirements. Aligning cultivation schedules and supplier timelines to meet forecasted demand while accounting for growing cycles and seasonal variations. Collaborating with growers, production teams, and agronomists to ensure feasible and accurate planting schedules. Monitoring inventory levels and plant health across the supply chain to ensure product availability and quality standards. Balancing supply and demand to minimize stock-outs, overproduction, and waste, especially of perishable plant products. Coordinating with procurement teams to ensure timely sourcing of inputs such as seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, and growing media. Liaising with sales and customer service teams to align supply plans with market and customer needs. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
