Job Description
LEAD ENGINEER – PROCESS The process engineering function plays a key role in the daily continuous improvement of production lines. The Process Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams, having Production, Quality, and EHS as internal customers, to ensure that the production floor and lines are optimized to efficiently meet safety, cost, quality, and delivery goals. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Over 7 years of experience in automotive product launches . Experience in automotive program/project coordination . Knowledge and/or experience in required production processes . Basic knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 . Green Belt Six Sigma certification (minimum). Experience using problem-solving tools: 5 Whys, 8D, Ishikawa . Strong technical skills in areas such as electronics, robotics, pneumatics, and mechanics . Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required . Responsibilities: Lead a group of process engineers and support them to ensure targets are met across different areas. Create and monitor KPIs on a regular basis. Perform strong problem-solving analysis on the lines to optimize resources and reduce waste using methodologies such as 5 Whys, 8D , and other tools. Ensure engineers comply with applicable APQP process steps . Track key indicators with engineers and support them in removing escalation barriers. Ensure engineers gather relevant information for transfer projects . Oversee all activities related to plant capacity , ensuring all lines have cycle times recorded. Provide proper support to other departments such as Production, Quality, and Manufacturing . Ensure engineers actively participate as Process Owners . Ensure the development of new processes using Lean Manufacturing techniques . Visit customers and suppliers as required. Support visits from customers, suppliers, or colleagues from other locations as needed. Monitor the validation of new or transferred equipment, detect operational issues, and resolve them. Comply with customer-specific requirements . Work collaboratively with other departments to improve plant-wide productivity. Create and manage new projects for capital investment , human resources, and equipment/tooling requirements to support operational or replacement needs. Attend Technical Change Board (TCB) meetings. Ensure development and implementation of continuous improvement projects in the manufacturing process to reduce waste. Ensure that PPAPs , testing, and engineering changes are executed according to APQP deadlines and responsibilities , review results, implement corrective actions, and manage resources (labor, equipment, tools) for required runs. Maintain regular communication with the Department Manager and provide immediate feedback on potential failures or roadblocks in meeting set objectives. Provide design and tooling feedback to suppliers. Attend applicable training sessions and workshops. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Department Manager, according to company needs. Provide support to the quoting and design department to identify, define, and estimate requirements for new projects in terms of process and equipment needs. Required Skills: Strong technical capabilities. Problem-solving skills. Experience in project coordination. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies . Experience in lean manufacturing .
