Engineer

Responsibilities: Reports to department manager. Product development and design. Take on complete projects from start to finish including special projects. Stress analysis. Training will be given if necessary. Preferred if they have some knowledge. Load distributions and general arrangement drawings. Assist in implementing drawing standards/processes/documentation etc. Assist/manage draughtsmen with department manager once experienced enough. Manage and maintain products/database/standards/administration etc. Assist production and repair departments as needed. Create nestings for plasma from time to time if draughtsmen are not able. Assist with day to day. Data capturing and filing. Bills of materials. Proper planning and time management. The successful candidate will be expected to function successfully on their own. Maintain good interdepartmental communication and relations. Qualities/Skills: Excellent communication, numeracy, and computer literacy skills. Good people management skills and management of staff. Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimise risk. Being able to develop good working relationships and trust with various teams. Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability and be very detail oriented. Working well with many different departments and external suppliers. Always keeping the end-user/customer in mind. Being results and deadline driven. Proficient in MS Office and CAD software. Requirements: Experience: 5 to 10 years. Qualifications: B.Tech, B.Sc or B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering essential. Professional Registrations: Not required. Software: Microsoft Office (proficient)(excel, word, outlook), Nesting Software (Sigmanest but not critical), any 3D design package (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred), FEA software (advantageous). Proficient in both English (Crucial) and Afrikaans (Ideal) Notice period: Not more than 1 month.
