Junior Accountant

My client is looking for a Junior Accountant to join their team and support the day-to-day financial operations at site level. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Junior Finance Manager and contribute to critical governance, reporting, and compliance functions. This role is based in Paarl, Western Cape. Key Responsibilities: Assist with governance and financial compliance, ensuring alignment with Group policies and procedures. Review trial balances to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Perform regular reconciliations and resolve transaction queries efficiently. Manage creditor functions: raise purchase orders, process invoices, and handle related queries. Maintain and reconcile the cashbook and ensure all entries are accurately recorded across ledgers. Prepare monthly journals, accruals, and adjustment entries. Manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation calculations. Support debtor management through invoicing, payment allocations, follow-ups, and sales reporting. Create bank payments and ensure timely settlements. Contribute to internal audits and ensure readiness for annual audits with supporting schedules and documentation. Develop and implement internal control processes to strengthen financial practices. Assist in working capital management and clearing financial inputs. Ensure the smooth running of the administrative finance function on site. Requirements: Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance. 12 years of experience in a similar role (advantageous). Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines. Solid understanding of accounting principles and controls. Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
