Head of Data (Health-Tech)

Lead the data vision in a fast-growing HealthTech scale-up Location : Barcelona (hybrid – flexible onsite presence encouraged) Industry : B2B SaaS | HealthTech / Life Sciences Type : Permanent role | Strategic (hands-on component desirable) The context We’re supporting a well-funded international scale-up that is redefining how data is used to drive decisions in a traditionally compliance-focused industry. Backed by a strong Series B round and operating in over 80 countries, they are evolving from a service-driven model to a fully data-powered platform. They are now building a brand-new Data function from the ground up — and are looking for someone to take full ownership of the strategy and execution. The mission You will define and lead the entire data strategy: from infrastructure and analytics to team structure and governance. This is a high-impact role with strategic visibility, but also requires a hands-on mindset, especially in the early phases. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Product, Finance and Operations, acting as the cornerstone for data-driven decisions across the company. Key responsibilities Define and execute the data roadmap, aligned with business and product strategy. Build and lead a cross-functional team (Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Curation). Develop scalable data platforms and processes, ensuring quality, privacy and reliability. Drive the use of analytics, automation and predictive models across functions. Set up strong data governance, architecture and best practices from scratch. Collaborate with key stakeholders and represent the data domain at executive level. Coach and empower a growing team (currently junior/mid) to raise maturity and autonomy. What you bring Proven experience leading data functions in high-growth, tech-driven environments. Strong technical background in data engineering or analytics. Strategic thinking with the ability to challenge, design and execute. Comfort with ambiguity and change – ideally having worked in a scale-up or similar. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Product and business-oriented mindset. Fluent English (daily working language). Bonus points for : Experience building teams from scratch. Familiarity with modern data stack (Redshift, dbt, Airflow, cloud platforms).
