The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a qualified individual for the Administrative Assistant 4 position. This role is within the Rates, Forms, and Provider Networks Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $4,542 - $6,107.

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provides direct scheduling and administrative support for the RFPN Deputy Commissioner
- Coordinates the logistics of meetings with OIC staff, other agencies, media, stakeholders and state and national organizations as required; arranges conference/video calls and conference rooms; prepares meeting agendas and attends staff meetings; takes notes/meeting minutes and provides follow-up information
- Uses independent judgment and knowledge of program workload and deadlines to prioritize and triage requests
- Assist in the review of correspondence to ensure documents are well-organized, clearly written, and adhere to appropriate terminology and grammar standards
- Arranges travel and training for RFPN Staff; maintains supporting documentation
- Provides administrative support as needed to complete division projects and activities
- Provides back up to agency administrative staff, including Executive Assistants, when necessary or requested
- Acts as liaison between the RFPN staff and other OIC staff members and external stakeholders
- Supports division and agency strategic planning process
- Key responsibilities include assisting in the development and implementation of divisional goals, objectives, and priorities; managing daily administrative operations; and exercising delegated authority to make decisions and act on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner
- Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date desk manual that documents key processes, procedures, and responsibilities

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or GED
AND
Four years (4) of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative work. *
In addition to the above:
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to accurately type at least a minimum of 40 words per minute
- Demonstrated evidence of superior writing skills and a scrupulous attention to detail
- Ability to understand complex rules and regulations and ensure that processes and procedures are in compliance with RCW, WACs and policies
*A bachelor’s degree with a focus in business administration, public administration or related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation for a foreign equivalent will substitute for up to 4 years of professional work experience.
If a degree or other credentials are listed, proof will be required prior to employment. University degrees must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent. If a degree was awarded outside the United States, candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience with the Washington State Travel System (TEMS) or similar
- Experience using a case management system
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Prior supervisory experience of support staff
