Job Description
Program Delivery: Lead engaging and interactive STEM engineering classes and workshops for children aged 5-14, ensuring a high level of student participation and understanding. Activity Facilitation: Guide students through practical engineering activities, experiments, and projects, providing clear instructions and scaffolding to support their learning journey. Concept Simplification: Translate complex engineering and scientific concepts into accessible and exciting terms for young learners, sparking their curiosity and promoting deeper comprehension. Student Engagement: Encourage a growth mindset, curiosity, and persistence in students as they explore engineering challenges and develop solutions. Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety of all participants during activities, maintaining a well-organized and supervised learning space. Material Preparation: Prepare and organize all necessary materials and equipment for each lesson or activity. Observation & Support: Observe student progress and provide individualized support and encouragement as needed. Qualifications: Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in a STEM field, Engineering, Industrial Design, Education, or a related area. Candidates with relevant industry experience and a strong interest in education are encouraged to apply. Experience: Prior experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or camp setting (ages 5-14 preferred). Demonstrated experience in hands-on activities, DIY projects, or technical hobbies that showcase an understanding of engineering principles. Experience leading small groups or classes. Skills & Attributes: Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and inspiring their interest in STEM. Ability to explain technical concepts simply and engagingly. Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly regarding materials and safety. Ability to manage a classroom or group effectively and maintain a fun, respectful atmosphere. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
