Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role involves processing complex payroll for a workforce covered by multiple union agreements, ensuring compliance with various classifications and regulations. Based in Belleville, Ontario, this position offers the flexibility of fully remote work, with training and support provided for success.Responsibilities:- Process weekly payroll for 30-35 employees, ensuring accuracy across five union classifications and various roles.- Audit and verify timesheets using AI tools and Excel to ensure all hours and job details are captured accurately.- Manage payroll adjustments, including reimbursements, car allowances, phone bills, and per diems.- Input and reconcile payroll data in Maestro, ensuring alignment with union agreements and project-specific requirements.- Provide billing administration support, including entering and reviewing data for accuracy and compliance.- Collaborate with team members during a two-month training period to learn systems and processes effectively.- Maintain meticulous records of payroll transactions and ensure compliance with Canadian payroll regulations.- Assist with administrative bookkeeping tasks as needed, beyond payroll responsibilities.- Proven experience in full-cycle payroll processing, ideally within a unionized environment.- Strong proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.- Familiarity with Canadian payroll regulations and compliance standards.- Ability to work independently and manage complex payroll structures with multiple classifications.- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in payroll and billing.- Experience with accounting or payroll software systems, such as Maestro, is an asset.- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members during training and ongoing tasks.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
