Job Description

Design electronic hardware with a focus on efficiency, radiation hardening, and thermal management Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware into larger systems Build and test prototypes to ensure hardware meets required standards Diagnose and resolve hardware issues through root cause analysis Ensure hardware meets industry standards and passes environmental testing Create detailed technical documentation to support design and testing processes Stay informed on new technologies and contribute to innovation in hardware design Work closely with diverse teams and communicate effectively across disciplines Skills & Experience: A solid foundation in electrical engineering principles is essential for designing and analysing analogue and digital systems Proficiency in embedded systems design, including microcontrollers, FPGAs, RTOS, and firmware development, is crucial Experience with CAD tools like Altium, OrCAD, or Eagle is required for schematic design, PCB layout, and simulations Strong knowledge of both digital and analogue circuit design, including logic circuits and analogue components, is important The ability to test, troubleshoot, and debug hardware using lab tools like oscilloscopes and logic analysers is essential Proficiency in embedded programming languages such as C, C++, and assembly is necessary for firmware development Familiarity with communication protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, and CAN bus is needed for system integration A system-level understanding enables effective collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams Knowledge of space-specific constraints like radiation hardening, thermal control, and EMC is valuable for space hardware design Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are critical for resolving complex hardware issues Clear and thorough documentation skills are necessary to communicate design work and testing outcomes effectively A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies is vital in the fast-paced space sector Attention to detail and a focus on quality are crucial for meeting the high standards of space hardware reliability Effective communication and teamwork are key for collaborating across disciplines and explaining technical ideas clearly Qualification: B.Eng. minimum and have 5 years of relevant experience Contact CHANE DIPPENAAR on
