Forklift Driver

Purpose: To ensure safe, efficient, and accurate movement, identification, handling, and preservation of stock, materials, and components across the plant. Responsible for supporting production areas, maintaining material flow, and contributing to overall plant safety and efficiency. Minimum Requirements: ? Grade 12 (Matric) certificate ? Valid Forklift Driver’s License ? Minimum 2 years’ forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment ? Good communication skills in English or Afrikaans ? Good eyesight (corrective lenses acceptable) ? Basic numeracy and ability to verify quantities and match delivery notes ? Ability to complete checklists and basic maintenance inspections ? Teamwork orientation and ability to work in a high-paced automated environment Key Responsibilities: 1. Conduct daily forklift inspections and report any faults using standard checklists 2. Ensure forklifts are fueled/charged and maintained (oil, diesel, battery water) 3. Operate forklift to safely load and offload trucks as per stacking matrix and safety protocols 4. Transport materials and components to production lines and return finished goods to designated areas 5. Weigh-count pallets and verify stock against delivery documentation 6. Stack, de-stack, and store carriers and components according to SOP and safety standards 7. Remove tags and waste materials from empty carriers 8. Assist during stock counts and perform cycle count support tasks 9. Ensure accurate and visible identification of all stock and transported items 10. Maintain cleanliness of forklift and work area (5S housekeeping) 11. Secure forklift in designated parking/storage area when not in use 12. Perform any other reasonable and safe tasks assigned by the Supervisor Accountabilities: ? Responsible for the condition and safe operation of the forklift ? Responsible for any damage caused to components or materials through negligence ? Responsible for accurate and safe movement of goods within the automated plant Authority Level: ? May prevent unauthorised or unsafe use of the forklift under his/her control ? May report safety violations or damaged goods to supervisor or safety officer ADDITIONAL NOTES ?
