Senior Accountant - Western Cape

Our client , a respected and growing player in the agriculture sector , is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and understands the unique demands of the agricultural industry. About the Role: As the Senior Accountant , you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health of our clients operations. Youll be responsible for managing financial reporting, analysing costs, ensuring compliance, and supporting business decisions with accurate and timely financial insights. Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, or production environments will be highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements. Manage general ledger functions and reconcile key accounts. Oversee cost and inventory accounting related to farming and production operations. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Analyse variances in input costs, yields, and operational performance. Ensure tax, VAT, and statutory compliance (SARS). Coordinate and support internal and external audits. Support the finance manager in strategic financial projects. Supervise junior finance staff and improve financial controls and systems. Requirements: BCom Accounting or similar relevant qualification. SAIPA, SAICA, or CIMA designation (advantageous). Minimum 5 years' accounting experience, preferably in agriculture or a related sector. Solid understanding of seasonal cash flow, production costing, and inventory management. Strong working knowledge of accounting systems (Sage, Pastel, Syspro, or similar). Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
