Senior Architect - Johannesburg

Job Purpose This role is responsible for leading large-scale architectural projects from initial concept through to construction and closeout. The Senior Architect will play a central role in delivering iconic, design-led developments, ensuring creative excellence, technical rigor, and successful project execution. Ideal for a visionary professional with a strong technical background and a passion for urban innovation, this position combines strategic design leadership with hands-on project delivery across a range of high-profile developments. Key Responsibilities Develop innovative and context-driven design concepts and translate them into fully realized architectural solutions. Lead the design and documentation process across all project phases, from feasibility to completion. Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery. Produce and oversee high-quality construction documentation and detailing. Manage multidisciplinary project teams and maintain alignment with design standards and project goals. Apply advanced technical knowledge to resolve complex architectural and site-related challenges. Ensure quality assurance and adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets. Contribute to continuous design innovation and technical refinement within the practice. Requirements Qualifications & Experience Registered Professional Architect with SACAP. Minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience. Strong academic qualifications from a recognised architectural institution. Proven experience managing large, complex projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, hospitality, civic, education, and mixed-use developments. Technical Skills Expert proficiency in Revit and BIM Common Data Environment (CDE); completion of Revit assessment required. Advanced construction detailing and documentation capabilities. Solid understanding of BIM workflows, modelling techniques, and collaboration protocols. Familiarity with Enscape, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and Microsoft Office tools. Strong grasp of construction methodologies, building systems, and relevant regulations. Ability to assess technical and commercial feasibility of projects. High attention to detail and commitment to design and documentation excellence. Confident communicator across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
