Engineer – Underground Infrastructure (Opportunity in the Netherlands)

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities Translate client requests into finalised technical designs for underground cable and pipe installations Assess technical, financial, and environmental factors to determine the most efficient execution plan Investigate land ownership, underground conditions, and environmental risks (e.g. soil contamination, existing infrastructure, or unexploded ordnance) Use soil data, trench inspections, and site visits to confirm design feasibility Advise on costing, material specifications, and construction methods (e.g. open trench, drilling, or pressing) Ensure all required permits and approvals are obtained timeously Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders throughout the project life cycle As your experience grows, support and coach junior engineers on smaller projects Experience & Qualifications NQF Level 5–6 or higher (e.g. National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field) Proven experience working on underground utilities or infrastructure (e.g. gas, water, or electrical distribution networks) Ability to manage both detailed design work and broader project coordination Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure Comfortable working independently and engaging across departments Cost-conscious with an eye for efficient solutions What’s on Offer A key role in international infrastructure projects Diverse and challenging work across a range of sites and environments Structured onboarding and support in the Netherlands Competitive Euro-based salary with relocation assistance Growth potential into larger projects and mentorship roles
