Job Description

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Industrial Painter to apply protective and decorative coatings to industrial structures, equipment, and surfaces. The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques, spray-painting methods, and safety procedures in industrial environments such as plants, factories, construction, or mining. Key Responsibilities Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, blasting, or applying solvents to remove rust, dirt, old paint, and contaminants. Mix and apply paints, primers, epoxy coatings, fireproofing agents, and sealants according to specifications. Use brushes, rollers, or spray guns (airless or conventional) to apply coatings to metal, concrete, and other surfaces. Perform paint touch-ups and finish work to specified film thickness and aesthetic standards. Conduct quality checks using DFT gauges, adhesion tests, and visual inspections. Follow safety procedures for handling hazardous materials and using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Work at heights and confined spaces while complying with site safety protocols. Operate and maintain painting equipment and tools in safe and working condition. Protect surrounding areas and equipment by masking, taping, and using drop cloths. Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked. Follow directions from supervisors and collaborate with other trades on-site. Requirements Matric or equivalent qualification Minimum 3 years experience as an Industrial Painter in a plant, mining, or construction setting Proficiency with airless spray guns, conventional spray systems, and other painting tools Familiarity with surface preparation techniques such as grit blasting or hydroblasting Knowledge of various paint systems including polyurethane, epoxy, and zinc-rich primers Ability to read and follow technical specifications, job cards, and safety datasheets Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certification (advantageous) Physically fit and able to stand, bend, climb, and lift heavy materials Valid drivers license (optional but preferred) Core Competencies High attention to detail and surface finish quality Strong safety awareness and knowledge of OHS regulations Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Ability to work independently or as part of a team Good time management and communication skills
