Senior PLC Engineer

PLC Controls Engineer Location: 90% Travel Across the U.S. | 10% Onsite in Mason, OH Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Hours may vary) Contract Type: W2 Only Employment Eligibility: U.S. Citizens , TN VISA holders , or individuals with valid U.S. work authorization under W2 contracts only, No C2C or 1099 . Travel: Up to 90% domestic travel to client locations (company reimburses weekly via Misc Invoice) Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled PLC Controls Engineer III to lead and execute automation controls projects across the country for warehouse automation and material handling systems. You will take ownership of full project lifecycles—from concept through commissioning—and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This position demands both hands-on technical expertise and leadership in controls system development and implementation. Responsibilities: Lead and execute multiple electrical and PLC control projects with minimal supervision. Manage planning, scope, budgeting, and scheduling for assigned projects. Design, modify, implement, and support software applications, operating systems, and PLC controls. Perform electrical design and programming using Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, and related platforms. Oversee software and hardware testing phases including FAT, UAT, and customer acceptance testing. Interface with internal/external customers and maintain expectations throughout project lifecycle. Prepare and submit detailed documentation and progress reports. Attend weekly team meetings and review timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Travel to client sites 90% of the time for system commissioning and support. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 7 years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in warehouse automation or material handling systems Proven experience as a Project Lead , Project Manager , or Team Lead Demonstrated ability to lead multiple simultaneous projects Technical Skills: PLC Programming : Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Codesys Motion Control : Servos, VFD programming Networks : Serial, Ethernet/IP, Profinet HMI Design : Aveva Edge, Rockwell FTV Studio, Ignition Software & Tools : Logix 5000, Studio 5000 ZoneFlex Configurator RSLinx, FactoryTalk View B&R Automation Studio Siemens TIA Portal AutoCAD & AutoCAD Electrical BOM generation, schematic & panel design SST Profibus Configuration, SOPAS, Datalogic DataMan Other Requirements: Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to submit weekly expense reports for travel reimbursement Willingness to travel frequently within the U.S.
