We work with global partners including Uber, TUI, BigBus, GoCity, National Express, Flix Bus, and major telecom providers , offering seamless access to airport transfers, local transportation, SIM cards, and other travel products. As we expand into new geographies—including Sydney and New York—and introduce a more advanced digital layer into our services, we're investing in building a world-class in-house engineering function to lead this transformation. The Role We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious Head of Engineering / Engineering Lead to join as our first senior technical hire. This is a hybrid role that combines hands-on development , strategic architecture , and technical leadership . You’ll take full ownership of the engineering roadmap—designing scalable systems from the ground up, writing production code in the early phase, and building a high-performing team over time. This is a high-autonomy, high-impact position at the intersection of physical operations, digital innovation, and customer experience. Compensation: Competitive salary 85LPA Performance Bonus 20L-30L Equity (negotiable) Key Responsibilities System Architecture & Product Development Architect and build robust, scalable, and secure systems to support physical and digital product lines (e.g. booking engines, hotel portals, kiosk integrations, payment flows) Select the right tech stack, design for scale and modularity, and own all infrastructure decisions Lead early-stage development efforts by writing clean, maintainable code Integrate with third-party systems including payment gateways, APIs (Uber, Telstra, etc.), and internal portals Tech Strategy & Roadmap Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to translate business goals into an executable engineering roadmap Prioritize tech initiatives with a balance of speed, scalability, and long-term impact Implement development workflows, documentation, version control, and testing best practices Leadership & Team Building Build and lead a high-performing engineering team as we scale Mentor developers, set coding standards, and foster a collaborative, quality-driven engineering culture Drive cross-functional alignment between tech, operations, and commercial teams Communication & Reporting Present technical plans, trade-offs, and progress to senior leadership Contribute to investor discussions, stakeholder updates, and board-level reporting as needed Assist in vendor evaluations, tech budgeting, and ROI modeling for engineering investments Who You Are 10 years of experience in software development, including hands-on system design Proven ability to design, build, and ship complex platforms or digital products Proficient in one or more modern programming languages or frameworks such as C#, Python, Node.js, Java, or React Experience leading or mentoring developers and managing cross-functional technical initiatives Strong full-stack engineering skills with a deep understanding of backend and infrastructure (e.g., Node.js, Python, AWS, GCP, etc.) Strategic mindset, with the ability to balance hands-on execution with big-picture thinking Comfortable working in lean environments with high accountability Nice to Have Exposure to compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR, or HIPAA Experience implementing or using observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) to ensure reliability and uptime Familiarity with CTO-level frameworks and tools such as OKRs, RICE prioritization, innovation KPIs, or cloud cost optimization strategies Experience with kiosk integrations, IoT, or travel-tech platforms Familiarity with payments, security, or compliance-driven architectures Exposure to AI-based or automation-driven solutions (agentic or otherwise) in real-world business contexts Experience collaborating with enterprise partners and navigating corporate integrations Why Join Us At We Know Group , you won’t just be another leader—you’ll be foundational to our next phase of growth.
